These predictions are calculated with a precision of a few centimetres
for the heights and a few minutes for the hours; the real heights of water
can however deviate notably from the prediction (until several
tens of centimetres) especially because of the variations of the sea level
due to the atmospheric disturbances.
The height reference used for the predictions of tide is the zero of nautical
charts which, in general, corresponds roughly to the level of lowest
seas (Lowest Astronomical Tide for the English).»
